Many species of Libellulidae (Skimmers) are sexually dimorphic, meaning that males and females of the same species often look very different. Most of this difference is exhibited in coloration. Most of the mature male Whitefaces (Leucorrhia) and Meadowhawks (Sympetrum) are red and black while the immature males and the females are yellow/gold and black
